Although the computational power availabe has bee increasing for years, it is still not feasible to to simulate complex turbulent flows by using LES or DNS. Therefore several hybrid techniques, combining LES/DNS and RANS, were developed in several research groups to achieve a satisfying accuracy at reasonable computational costs. go

Simulation von Mehrphasenströmungen mit OpenFOAM
Simulation of multi phase flow using OpenFOAM
Zur Beschreibung des Geschwindigkeitsverhältnisses zwischen zwei Phasen gibt es unterschiedliche Ansätze. So gibt es zum Einen das „homogenous model“, nach dessen Theorie kein Schlupf zwischen beiden Phasen vorkommt. Da man in experimentellen Untersuchungen aber eben genau solch einen Schlupf immer wieder festgestellt hat, gibt es zum Anderen sogenannte „separated flow models“, die Korrelationen zwischen den Geschwindigkeiten zweier Phasen angeben.
Ziel dieser Arbeit ist die Untersuchung der verschiedenen Theorien. Zudem sollen zweiphasige Strömungssimulationen mit OpenFOAM an selbst definierten Testfällen durchgeführt werden. weiter
