Based on the more fundamental topics treated in the lecture computational fluid dynamics, this lecture gives an introduction into advanced methods and techniques used in CFD. The methods treated are either in the focus of active research work or already implemented in commercial flow solvers.

  • algebraic multigrid methods
  • simulation of free surface flows (volume of fluid / level set methods)
  • simulation of multiphysics problems (e.g. .fluid structure interaction, CFD with acoustics)
  • selected topics (e.g. lattice Boltzmann methods, alternative discretization techniques)
